Our thanks to members of the BTP Sikh Association for extending an invitation to the Federation to join the group's first Vaisakhi event in London.
Sikh Association Chair Ceese Kaur Seera said, "April is a significant month for our faith within the Sikh community. Courage, sacrifice, and equality are deeply ingrained in Sikh Philosophy and are very central to the celebrations of Vaisakhi."
We heard from several speakers including Hukam Singh from Basics of Sikhi, who explained the history of Vaisakhi and Ministry of Defence Chaplain Mandeep Kaur MBE, who gave a talk on Sikhi and wellbeing.
In his speech, BTP's ACC Sean O'Callaghan reaffirmed the Force's ongoing support for the Sikh community before later joining Ameet Singh and Without Shape Without Form for a panel discussion.
BTP's Sikh Association was launched in September at Ramgarhia Gurdwara in Birmingham. It aims to provide a network of support for officers, staff and volunteers throughout BTP. The Association can be contacted by email spa@btp.police.uk
