How we help

Membership of the Federation is optional but please read more about the representation, advice and support that is only available to our members. As police officers, we have many restrictions on both our work and private lives. We are contracted to be available for duty 24/7, are forbidden from taking part in any form of industrial action, and don't have full employment rights.

Therefore, it is sensible to have legal and professional representation against malicious allegations, unfair treatment and unfounded criticism.

The Group Insurance Scheme is also optional, but we strongly advise you read about the cover it entitles you to before making your decision. You can read more about the scheme here.

*Please note, the lower cost of Group Insurance for Specials reflects the different level of cover provided, namely that sickness cover is not provided. This is due to the complexity of the interaction between an individual's day job and time spent volunteering as a Special.
