British Transport Police Federation has received two awards from the British Transport Police Sikh Association (BTPSA), in recognition of the support we have provided since the Association’s creation two years ago.
The Federation award was received by Deputy Chair Michael Natavio, while Pete Kingham picked up an individual award for the support he has shown to the association. Michael Natavio explains more:
The awards were presented during an intimate ceremony at the Palace of Westminster to mark the BTP Sikh Association's second anniversary. Hosted by Jas Athwell MP, we also heard from guest speaker Amandeep Singh. It was a proud moment for me to accept an award on behalf of the Federation, reflecting the strong partnership we share with the BTPSA and the wider employee networks across British Transport Police.
The Sikh faith places great emphasis on service, integrity, and standing up for what is right - principles that resonate deeply with the core responsibilities of policing. Both traditions are rooted in protecting communities, upholding fairness, and ensuring that those in need are supported. This alignment of values makes the relationship between the BTPSA and the Federation particularly meaningful.
We would like to pay special tribute to Dr Ceese Kaur Seera for her extraordinary leadership in building the BTPSA's profile. Her vision, dedication, and commitment have ensured the Association has become a strong and respected voice within the British Transport Police. Behind the scenes, her executive team has worked tirelessly to support her role, helping to shape the BTPSA into a thriving network that champions inclusion and representation.
The BTPSA is one of many employee support networks within the British Transport Police that the Federation is proud to support. These networks play a vital role in fostering inclusion, celebrating diversity, and ensuring that every officer and staff member feels represented and valued.
This recognition is not only a celebration of the past two years but also a reminder of the importance of ongoing partnerships. Our commitment is to continue working alongside the BTPSA and all employee support networks, strengthening collaboration and ensuring that all colleagues' voices are heard.
