National Wellbeing Week

Four health and wellbeing days have been organised across the force as part of National Wellbeing Week.

The events will highlight a range of health issues that affect both our minds and bodies. Partners including the Police Treatment Centres, Mind Blue Light, BTP Assist and the Transport Benevolent Fund will talk about their work and the support they offer.

John Sutherland, the former Metropolitan Police Commander and high-profile police mental health advocate, will speak at the London event. He delivered an impassioned input at our conference earlier this year, telling delegates:

"I don't think as a society, let alone as a service, we have ever stopped to consider the impact of this job. The stuff that we normalise as coppers remains extraordinary in almost every other walk of life."

John uses social media to highlight the impact of policing on the mental health of police officers. He shares his own personal experiences, many of which he has detailed in his book Blue: A Memoir - Keeping the Peace and Falling Apart.
