Lottery Donation - SCRFC

Winners of the Federation Lottery are not the only ones to benefit from the scheme; it also supports a variety of good causes.

Each month half the proceeds of the lottery are distributed as grants and donations. Lottery members can apply for funding for charitable, sporting or cultural purposes.

PC Sid Trotter from D Division nominated Stirling County Rugby Football Club to receive a donation. Stirling County is one of the leading RFC's in Scotland and has strong ties to the community.

The club works with local primary and secondary schools and the University of Stirling, to offer as many youngsters as possible the opportunity to play rugby. Many of its young members go on to play the game at the highest level with professional teams and represent Scotland at international level.

Club President, Lorne Boswell, said the lottery grant of £425 came at the right moment:

"These are difficult times at the club because we are in lock down and the club is shut. The donation enabled us to pay the groundsman because, come what may, we have to keep the grass cut. If we left it, we would have major problems recovering the pitches."

As well as assisting charities and community groups the fund also supports several retired BTP groups and helps towards the cost of members' sporting endeavours.

The lottery is open to both serving and retired members of the Federation. To join, complete and submit the relevant form(s).
