New Chair for Welfare Committee

Members of BTP Federation's Welfare Committee have voted Paul Miller has their new Chair.

The Committee is made up of representatives from across the force area. Its primary role is to assess applications for support from the Welfare Fund and provide financial assistance members. Interest-free loans have been provided to members who have been unable to secure funds from other sources.

The committee also assists with welfare issues faced by members especially around long term sickness and recently, COVID-19 related issues.

Paul Miller said: "It is a really good feeling to be able to help our members when they are in despair and my intention is to work more closely with members of the welfare committee so we can make decisions in a timelier manner."

"I also want to open up our meetings to our members so they can see how the welfare committee is run how we make decisions are regarding grants and loans."

"I look forward to working with the Health and Safety Committee, chaired by Stuart Cowan, and the Executive Board and would like to praise the outgoing Welfare Chair, Pete Kingham, for his hard work and commitment."

If you need support from the Welfare Fund, please speak to your local Fed Rep. They can talk you through the help available and assist you in completing the application form.
