Members complete half-marathon for colleague

Four BTP officers have run half-marathons in support of a friend and colleague who is being treated for breast cancer.

Ellen Horsted, from Special Ops, is receiving chemotherapy following her recent diagnosis. This weekend Mark, Chris and Mark (also from Special Ops), Chris from the FCRL, Ellen's sister and several friends all completed half-marathons to raise money for Cancer Research UK. As the photo shows, they even shared their Strava records with us as proof of completing the challenge.

Speaking shortly after completing his route around southeast London, Chris told us: "Myself and three other Federation members have each completed a half marathon today to support our friend and colleague Ellen. Mark completed his run in Portsmouth alongside Ellen's partner Fran (an MPS officer), Ellen's sister and 11 other friends.

"So far these efforts have raised in excess of £4,000 and it is humbling to see donations from friends, family, colleagues and retired officers. The British Transport Police Federation has donated a significant amount of money (800 from the Lottery Fund) and it is truly amazing to get all of this support. Thank you to everybody."

There are more than 55,000 new cases of breast cancer every year. It's not too late to make a donation that will support Cancer Research UK's vital work: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ellens-run
