Railway Mission Annual Report

Railway Mission - the charity which provides friendship and a listening ear to anyone connected with the rail network - has released its latest annual report.

At the end of March 2017, the charity employed thirteen full-time, seven part-time and four volunteer chaplains. Chaplains help railway staff (in all sectors and at all levels) and the British Transport Police enjoy the good times and get through the bad times.

The team is also available to the travelling public in the event of rail incidents including suicides.

In the last year the chaplaincy carried out more than 600 station visits, supported or engaged with 1900 individuals, carried out 21 hospital or home visits and attended one funeral.

The full report is available to read here.

Earlier this year we spoke to one of the BTP Chaplains, Andrew Hall, about his role. You can read the interview here.
