Officer organises charity football match to support Manchester attack victims

Liverpool-based BTP officer Paul Owens has organised a charity football match for the first responders to the Manchester Arena attack, and he needs your help.

The game, on Sunday 11th March, will see British Transport Police take on the North West Ambulance Service in the hope of raising as much money as possible for charities supporting the victims and their families, as well as emergency service workers affected by the tragedy.

Thanks to the generosity of the Eastlands Trust, the match will take place at Manchester Regional Arena; this was the warmup venue for the Commonwealth Games and it is situated next to Manchester City's ground. Kick-off is at 1pm.

How can you get help

  1. You can give a donation via the Virgin Money Giving page Paul has set up. Monies raised will be shared between the official Red Cross charity set up by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, mental health charity MIND, and Care of Police Survivors. Already more than £600 has been donated - can we reach the £2,200 target?

  2. You can donate prizes for the raffle. A draw will take place on the day so if you, or anyone you know, can help with prizes please contact Paul.Owens@btp.pnn.police.uk

  3. You can attend and cheer the teams on - there's nothing like the roar of a crowd to spur on two teams of footballing fundraisers. Please contact Paul Owens 2207 on the above e-mail with your ticket requests: adults £3, children £2 or a family ticket for £10 (2 adults and up to 4 children) Payment can be made via the Virgin Money Giving Page with your name or collar number as a reference and Paul will e-mail you your tickets. Anyone attending the match can take part in the raffle and donate on the day too.

  4. You can share this post! The more people who see this, the more money will be raised. Thank you.
