General Secretary welcomes £1.5 million funding for police charity

Darren Townsend, our General Secretary and a Trustee of the Police Treatment Centres, has welcomed the news that the charity will receive a share of £36 million from the Libor Charity Funding scheme.

The Centres will receive £1.5 million towards the provision of treatment and recuperation for police officers who have experienced an injury or illness. This is the final tranche of funding from the programme, which has seen more than £773 million awarded to mostly emergency services and military charities over the last five years.

Darren Townsend said: "As a Trustee I not only get to see the brilliant treatment provided to officers, but also the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

"Financial support like this is crucial and sends a clear message about the value and importance of the services delivered at the Police Treatment Centres."
