BTP Virgin Trains Divisional Cup - Part Two

A charity football tournament between officers and staff from BTP has already raised more than £700 for charity and there's still another round of matches to take place.

Last month the BTP Virgin Trains Divisional Cup kicked off the second of three fundraising events at Garforth Town FC in Leeds. The 11-a-side football tournament involves four teams of officers and staff from across BTP Area's B-Division London, C-Division NW, C-Division NE and D-Division Scotland. Sponsored by Virgin Trains, each event raises money for two charities: the Railway Children and Rethink Mental Illness. So far £770 has been raised.

Speaking ahead of the second event on 31 August, B-Division London's A/Inspector Neil McGrath said "Once again, it is excellent to see so many officers making the effort and time to support and get involved in today's event. A huge thank you to Garforth Town FC for hosting, Virgin Trains for supporting and PC John Moses (BTP C-Div NE) for organising the event in Leeds. Having over 60 officers play football today shows true togetherness against BTP force. Good luck to all playing in London in October."

Results so far

B-Div London - 3 v 0 - D-Div Scotland

C-Div NE - 4 v 1 - C-Div NW

The tournament top scorer is B-Division's PC Lewis Todd, with 4 goals.
